CLINICAL GOVERNANCE
Clinical governance provides a manner for Phelang Bonolo Healthcare to be accountable for the continuous improvement of our services. This ensures a high standard of care is maintained by creating an environment in which healthcare excellence, such as that which we provide our patients, will flourish.
The Phelang Bonolo Healthcare Group is focused on these key attributes within clinical governance:
• Responsibility in all of our activities;
• Excellent standards of care which are recognisable within the professional health industry
• A constant drive towards improvement of services, facilities and medical care provided.
The focus of the nursing strategy at the hospitals within the Phelang Bonolo Healthcare Group is three tiered, namely:
CARE
Improving patient care experience;
QUALITY
We are constantly improving health care outcomes of patients through excellent nursing services.
COST
Management and reducing operational cost parameters to achieve excellence in service and to maintain the best level of healthcare costs for our patients and medical costs providers.
THE KING REPORT
The King Report on Governance for South Africa 2009 sets out the basic principles for good governance. The four values underpinning good corporate governance include: responsibility, accountability, fairness and transparency.
Clinical governance applies only to healthcare organisations and only to the aspects of the organisation which relate to the care of patients and their caretakers. The management team at Phelang Bonolo Healthcare follows a more integrated approach to governance, which incorporates aspects of clinical and corporate governance. The board, medical professionals and staff are committed to and fully endorse the principles of good corporate governance. As such, we continue to improve the corporate governance framework to entrench responsible governance and effective operation of Board committees.
The Phelang Bonolo Healthcare ethics policy articulates the Groups position on fair dealings, confidentiality, gifts, monetary gains, conflicts of interest and appropriate utilisation of assets. All employees are expected to share the commitment to high moral, ethical and legal standards endorsed by the Phelang Bonolo Board of directors. Sound corporate governance practices are implicit in our core values, work culture and internal processes.
