GROUP HISTORY

Established in 2006, Phelang Bonolo Healthcare currently operates within South Africa and is the creation of Dr Mabitje Jackson (Jacky) Rampedi, who is a respected family practitioner in his community, Soshanguve, Pretoria North.

With more than 20 years ‘on the ground’ experience, Dr Rampedi had a vision of establishing a 100 percent black-owned private healthcare group to address the needs and deficiencies that exist in the current healthcare industry.

Through exceptional perseverance in a difficult and closed environment of traditional private hospital groups (all of which were founded prior to 1994), Dr Rampedi have persevered and he and his team are now ready to make his vision  of a truly wholly black owned private hospital group a reality.  In 2003, the Gauteng Department of Health granted principal approval to Dr Rampedi for the establishment of a private hospital facility to be built in Soshanguve.  After initial setbacks, Dr Rampedi has now, in conjunction with the Public Investment Corporation (PIC) and the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) who have been instrumental in the financial aspects of the private hospital, been able to make his vision to of affordable, equitable, quality healthcare a reality.

In 2013, Eulanda Mabusela, the Tshwane member of the Mayoral Committee for Health and Social Development, together with medical professionals, community members and press personnel joined Dr Rampedi for the sod-turning ceremony of the new Botshilu Private Hospital in Soshanguve.  The Botshilu Private Hospital, a first of its kind for the Soshanguve community, will open its doors on

1 October 2014.

In addition, various other principal approvals have been granted in other exciting healthcare developments by the Gauteng Department of Health to Dr Rampedi and associates, such as:

-  Botshilu Private Hospital (100 beds) (already operational);

-  Waterfall City Private Hospital (200 beds) (already operational);

-  Hartebeespoort Cardiac and Orthopaedic Centre of Excellence  (in process);

-  Eastmed day clinic (14 beds) (already operation); and

-  Pinehaven Private Hospital (100 beds) (proposed)

The opening of the flagship private hospital, Botshilu Private Hospital, heralds the beginning of the Phelang Bonolo Healthcare Group - with its message to the South African Community of the delivery of quality, affordable, first- world healthcare to the formerly disadvantaged members of the South African Community.
